6/18/06 - Father's Day
It has been a stressful few weeks.  We are behind schedule on finishing "Father's Child", but given everything we've been through, that's to be expected.  For me personally (I won't speak for AD), it has been a tough time.  My wife Michele lost her stepmother to cancer, and that put everything else on hold.  Our friend, Michael, suffered a massive heart attack and lingered for a few weeks before his body finally released him to be with the Lord.  He was 35 and left a young wife and two very young children.  Michele and I sang at the funeral services.  That was a tough time for us.

My job situation was not going to get any better, and neither was the salary (you know--to pay for SFM stuff!), so I prayed about a new job and the Lord blessed me.  I start 6/19.

After some recuts of various guitar parts, synth parts, and the addition of some percussion parts here and there, we finished all instrumental tracks, and all that was left were the lead and background vocals from me and AD.  I began recording in earnest while I worked through my last two weeks of work at my "old" job.  Last night, I finished all but one lead vocal of the 12 tracks on this CD.  I felt pretty good, but decided to wait until Sunday afternoon, Father's Day, to record the last vocal.

The last song was "Father's Child," the title track of this project, and since I am doing this entire project as a tribute to my own father, I decided that recording the final vocals to the final song, "Father's Child", on Father's Day, would be a fitting climax to the project.  It took a few takes until I was happy with the vocals, but I finished, satisfied with the final result.  Good thing, too.  I completed the last take moments before a large thunderstorm moved through our area that would have added unnecessary background ambience to the song.

I'm extremely happy with the project so far, and can't wait for you all to hear it!  Now AD and I begin the hard process of mixing all the tracks.  We'll keep you updated!
